Fred Foster Celebration of Life announced - The Tennessean

Visitation is set for 4 - 8 p.m. March 22, 2019, at Phillips Robinson Funeral Home, 2707 Gallatin Road in Nashville. A celebration of life service is scheduled for 2 p.m. March 23, 2019, at First Presbyterian Church of Nashville, 4815 Franklin Pike in Nashville. Foster, a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame, passed away Feb. 20 in Nashville following a brief illness. He was born Fred Luther Foster on July 26, 1931, in Rutherford County North Carolina and was the youngest of eight children.  Foster made a name for himself in country music as the founder and head of the progressive, independent Monument Records. Foster produced first singles for Dolly Parton and Jimmy Dean as well as Kris Kristofferson's first album and the early recordings that helped earn Roy Orbison a spot in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In lieu of flowers, Foster's family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Alive Hospice of Nashville.
